4 Reasons to Never Skip Breakfast Again

While breakfast has nearly always existed, it has only within the last few decades been placed under a significant spotlight. Chances are, you’ve been warned not to skip it and that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What are the consequences of skipping it? And is it really that crucial?

In short, the answer is yes, breakfast really is that important, and here’s why:

Brain power. Your brain needs fuel to function and that fuel comes in the form of calories, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients… AKA breakfast. Countless studies show that school-aged students who eat breakfast regularly perform better in multiple areas as well as have better focus and attention span.[1] Get your morning started the right way by getting the fuel your brain needs.

Heart health. One study by Harvard found that men aged 45-82 who skipped breakfast had a 27% higher risk of heart issue, such as heart attacks and coronary heart disease.[2] Eating in the morning helps normalize cholesterol levels and keeps your heart pumping away, healthy and strong.

Energy level. What’s better than an energy drink (besides pretty much everything)? Breakfast! That’s right, eating first thing in the morning gives your body the nutrients it needs to create a long-lasting and natural energy that will keep you going all morning long.[3]

Weight management. According to Diabetes.org, people who eat breakfast every morning actually take in fewer calories per day, on average, than their counterparts.1 Breakfasting in the morning helps keep your appetite in check and prevents you from binge eating later in the day when you’re starving. Studies also found that kids who eat breakfast routinely struggle less in life with weight problems.1
